A Beautiful Start To A Cedar Deck
This deck has become one of our flagship backyard deck designs and it has impressed many people who have stood upon it. We are continually elated with the results after each additional stage has been completed and we cannot wait until we can work on the next part. We approached this deck in several steps in order to meet budget constraints but at the same time allowing us to make substantial steps to a final result that has anyone walking by taking a second look. The picture shown is actually the second (lower) level that wraps around the back of the house and presents the rest of the back yard. The top section of the deck is back around the corner to the left and it approximately 14’x20′ – plenty of room for a serving bar against the house wall, an outdoor dining table, patio heater, barbecue, and seating around the table. All of that with a custom pergola overhead to act as a partial sun shade as well as something to hang planters on. All deck boards are installed on a 45 degree angle for flow from one tier of the deck to another.
This large custom deck design and build was started in 2008 and we have been working on it in phases over the last couple of years.
The hot tub, gazebo, and this second level of deck was all installed and built in 2009 as a subsequent and quite substantial phase. Both levels of deck are in the process of being stained a darker version of what the gazebo is stained in order to both contrast and compliment the lighter redwood stain used on the gazebo.
